Essay competition - Romania
Say No to Legal Drugs
Hello! My name is Bogdan and I am 13 years old. I am going to tell you a little story about my country. I am a student at National College Constantin Bratescu, in Constantza, an old and beautiful city. It is situated in Romania, on the coast of the Black Sea.
In my opinion, one of the major problems of my country is that there are lots of teenagers which take drugs, especially legal drugs. On February, 14th 2011 many students from different schools and cities protested on many streets and boulevards against drugs. They were hoping that after this protest, which took 5 days, the shops selling legal drugs would be closed. They wrote on placards expressing their anger against these drugs and the authorities which tolerate these “dreams shops”. Many children left school and started to steal money from their houses in order to buy some small envelopes full with a lethal substance.
After that protest, the number of teenagers taking drugs decreased and many shops with legal drugs were closed. Unfortunately, there are still too many left, tempting people who are too weak to say NO!
