OUR COOPERATION WITH STUDENTS IN KENYA :)
How strange and at the same moment great!!! eTwinning project, which is the European project has been spread to AFRICA!!! Our African partners from the school in Kenya visited our school and we showed them how to work with the help of ICT on the international projects. They were really interested and we have involved them to the project indirectly, because of the fact non European countries cannot take part in such projects. We showed them how the our project works, how we cooperate with our partners and they really liked it. What we did was we organized volunteering activity aimed at Africa and Kenya called BRICK FOR AFRICA. This volunteering acctivity helped us to support people without water and we were selling bracelets and sent raised money to Africa. Our Kenyan partners liked this activity and our teachers and us might cooperate with Kenyans in the future with the help of ICT on the mutual project. See our cooperation with teachers from Kenya :)
We are really proud of this activity.

KIZUNA A HOPE FOR JAPANESE CHILDREN SUFFERING FROM THE EFFECTS OF EARTHQUAKE AND TZUNAMI
The Japanese word ‘Kizuna’ means solidarity or tie. Slovak and Romanian students have joined the campaign of UNESCO in their eTwinning volunteering project « VOLUNTEER VOICES ».
UNESCO has adopted the word for a new campaign. School children from around the world are being asked to write a message of hope on a postcard. The aim is for each of the thousands of school children who were affected by the earthquake and subsequent tsunami that hit northeast Japan on 11 March, to receive a postcard as an act of solidarity.
On that fateful day over 7000 schools were destroyed or damaged by the Tsunami, mostly in the coastline area of Tohoku region. In one tragic case among many, more than 70 percent of pupils were swept away by the tsunami. The remaining 30 percent of children in that particular school are understandably traumatized as are thousands of other school children in the region. Many children lost everything - their parents, friends, houses and schools. Many more continue to live in shelters. Sending some words of hope or drawing a picture symbolizing friendship on a postcard, shows these children that they have not been forgotten.
The word Kizuna conveys a powerful message of unity. Our conviction is that reconstruction, both physically and psychologically, must start with education, with schools, students and teachers.”
The Sendai branch of the National Federation of UNESCO Associations in Japan collects the postcards and then it will distribute them to school children and teachers in the affected region of Japan.
Postcards with sincere wishes of our young people were sent to
Sendai UNESCO Association
1-2-2 Oomachi, Aoba-ku,
Sendai City, 980-0804 JAPAN
THESE ARE SOME OF OUR WISHES TO JAPANESE CHILDREN WRITTEN IN THE POSTCARDS :
-DO NOT GIVE UP ! BETTER FUTURE AWAITS FOR YOU !
-WE ARE WITH YOU !
-WE SUPPORT YOU !
-MY HEART IS WITH JAPANESE CHILDREN AND PEOPLE !
-I HOPE AND BELIEVE THE JAPANESE WILL OVERCOME THE PROBLEMS AND CRISES AND I WISH YOU GOOD LUCK !
-BE STRONG – WE LOVE YOU !
-WE PRAY FOR YOU ! GOD IS WITH YOU !

6. Discussion
7. Conclusion
Students came to this conclusion -
volunteering is a great kind of an academy to learn about life and its hardships. Volunteer work doesn’t offer and wages to volunteer, and that’s why you can not push people into this. But i tis true, the more you volunteer and help other, the more life credits you will get. Volunteering is a great thing which makes us better people willing to help. Who knows, when we will need help and if somebody helps us it will be great! This is what volunteering is about!!!
SLOVAK VOLUNTEERING ACTIVITY - EUROPEAN DAY AND EUROPEAN YEAR OF VOLUNTEERING
Europe Day
On the 9th of May 1950, Robert Schuman presented his proposal on the creation of an organised Europe, indispensable to the maintenance of peaceful relations. This proposal, known as the "Schuman declaration", is considered to be the beginning of the creation of what is now the European Union. Today, the 9th of May has become a European symbol (Europe Day) which, along with the flag, the anthem, the motto and the single currency (the euro), identifies the political entity of the European Union. Europe Day is the occasion for activities and festivities that bring Europe closer to its citizens and peoples of the Union closer to one another.
Slovak students have joined two events Europe Day and European Year of Volunteering and went to the stress of their town Levice. They did the survey among the cicizens of the town Levice about volunteering. Every respondent of the survey got the yellow rose – the symbol of Europe.
